description The objective of Foundations in Community Development (FCD) is to disciple and equip the body of Christ into reaching out holistically to undeveloped communities. Our desire is to mobilize and facilitate the church to be able to minister to their community, by bringing improvement in the physical, social, intellectual and spiritual standards. The foundation stone is a biblical understanding of courses of both poverty and underdevelopment and what steps to take towards solving them. The course will help you grasp the two-handed approach to the gospel, as you not only learn to serve in practical ways but also going into churches and communities and minister to the spiritual needs of the people. Many opportunities are open to those who graduate from this school, both in Africa and overseas. Some students go on to join the staff on one of the projects they were involved with on their outreach, while others go back to work in their local churches or communities.
Luke 2:52 “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”

lecture phase The twelve-week curriculum of the lecture phase includes a biblical approach to development. Students are taught sociological, psychological and educational dimensions in concepts of community through history, research, and assessment. FCD aims to teach technological considerations and dynamics of community support systems, through acquiring basic skills and understanding of economic development. Sample studies will be conducted to teach the students how to spiritually map and find strongholds in communities. The student is also encouraged in his/her personal relationship with the One who really brings the transformation in communities.
outreach phase In the outreach phase of FCD, students will continue the learning process by extending their knowledge to the community they enter. Students will be able to apply their ability in assessing needs and facilitating the process of prioritizing and taking action (building roads, digging wells, etc.) Direct experience is provided in serving a community where the participant can apply the biblical development values, concepts, process, skills and principles needed to serve a community in its growth towards God’s intentions. The local church is encouraged to be an active part of this outreach phase to offer spiritual encouragement and follow-up. Students work closely with community leaders and work on developing relationships within the community. The field staff provide necessary support and encouragement within the unique situation in each community.
